Raw Milk A2/A2, obtained from healthy grass-fed cows, is a nutrient-rich superfood. It provides essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphate, B vitamins, Vitamin D, iodine, potassium, healthy fats, amino acids, energy (from lactose), and protein. Milk contains two types of protein – whey (20%) and casein (80%) – both of which are highly effective in aiding the absorption of amino acids and supporting muscle growth and repair.
There are two variants of beta-casein found in cow's milk: A2 beta-casein and A1 beta-casein. Originally, cow's milk only contained A2 beta-casein (A2/A2), which is the same primary protein found in human milk. A2 beta-casein is considered more natural and easily digestible by the human body. However, the protein composition of cow's milk has changed over time. A genetic mutation led to the development of the A1 beta-casein variant, resulting in most commercially available cow's milk today being a mix of A1 and A2 beta-casein (A2/A1). Unfortunately, A1 beta-casein can be challenging for humans to digest and has been associated with inflammation, gut discomfort, and various health issues.
Whenever possible, opt for raw milk containing A2/A2 beta-casein protein, which is more easily absorbed and digested by the human body. Conversely, pasteurized milk sold in grocery stores contains A2/A1 beta-casein protein, which can be harder to digest and is linked to inflammation, gut discomfort, and other health issues. It's advisable to avoid this type of milk.
